And I realize not that the links are cut off, so I understand you probably can produce a ton of "evidence" that something is good for your and I can produce a ton that says it is not. But I will re-iterate: It does not matter because You are an experiment of one. Your experience will not translate to everyone. As mine will not. We are all here to learn what works for us.

Nah, the science to refute the claims of artificial sweeteners being toxic is there. You can choose to ignore it and be on your way.

You were right, LC. Just another zealot, lol

Artificial sweeteners are off my list. They did nothing to help me lose weight in fact they seemed to make my metabolism slow. More than that they dehydrated me a lot and that means salt clears out of your body slower. Leading to reduced insulin sensitivity. Do as you wish but you won't catch me drinking artificially sweetened drinks very often.

Well, as a person who works in the soft drink industry... I get to see all the constant changes. One of them is obviously around the sugar.
We do quality control with a panel and after 6 years I don’t recall anyone dying.
Fortunately there is market for both drinks and I can keep my job.
From a personal perspective, it doesn’t taste as nice as the sugar but why wasting calories / carbs on that? There are several sweeteners around, some better than others... you get used to it or are concerned of the laxative effects (unlikely to happen if consumed in moderation like everything) and stay away from it.

Mermee, tush grew. Quality of evidence matters. There is no quality evidence that artificial sweeteners are harmful in humans at the doses most consume them at. That's the end of it and Diablo is right and right to spread the message. People are obsessed with minutiae and it's making it harder to get to their goals.

I cannot regularly consume artificial sweeteners as my body is not tolerant of them. Every once in a while, with moderation, is ok but if I go too far I pay for it. FOR ME, too much artificial sweetener causes bladder spasms, frequent urination, incomplete voiding, and general discomfort. Even after 2 diet sodas symptoms will start for me so I consume them with caution.

Naw Diablo, just good old fashioned using my own brain and eyeballs. You remind me of the alcoholic who switches to weightlifting to "get healthy" but actually just changed one vice for another. To get truly healthy you need a lifestyle change. You never got over your need for sweets and now you're yelling at strangers on an otherwise really supportive site because you need to validate your vices. Pretty sad tbh.

My ex was addicted to drinking diet soda all day and thought he had arthritis at 30. When he quit his joint pain totally and unexpectedly disappeared. He also had to quit slowly otherwise the withdrawal kept him from being able to go to the bathroom. Glad to hear that artificial sweeteners are not as toxic as the public believes. And sorry so many animal lives were wasted trying to prove one side or the other.

Anecdotes. heh. You think you have me pegged but you're just someone who made a change due to a health scare and read some propaganda, went vegan and now thinks you need to go full "clean" eating to be healthy. Stick to streaming if you're not going to take the time to learn how nutrition works. I've been at this for 20 years and follow the experts who back their information with science.

With every study on either side you also have to ask where the funding came from

It has not been toxic since it never was!!!!! 😡
BAD SCIENCE, which seems to be the trend lately!!!🙃
No one wants to put in the effort to do the research!!!!!!!
That goes for the Bible too. It’s all hearsay!
Good going Diablo!!!!!👍👏👏👏👏👏💪💪💪

What's so weird is that you will nail your flag to the mast and go down with the ship over defending ARTIFICIAL sweeteners. Like it's something that will actually HELP people IMPROVE their lives. Strange.

Could the Pepsi Max I drank at work at 7am everyday (during my whole pregnancy) have affected my son? He is autistic 😅
