Hi Mariel. Your jam sounds awesome, I should make some too. I believe the tree in my yard is Chickasaw plum. Its flowers are absolutely lovely.

I do not know other than mine are wild and have huge torns but yummy use low sugar pectin

could just be Branch damage try cutting a few and see if there is anything inside wild plums are very seedy so I just boiled mine on top of the stove and then use the seive to clean out the skin and seeds you come out with a very pleasant color liquid then sugar make sure you use low sugar pectin it will be tart but I think very good
