2ManyCurves's Journal, 04 May 14

I did it! I have officially completed my first marathon! Ran through mile 17 and then did it up Run/Walk style for the remainder. Mile 22 felt like it was 10 miles long. I am chaffed, sunburned, sore and plum exhausted. But, I finished it injury-free and with all toenails intact. My parents and husband surprised me by being at the finish line. I would type more about all of the obstacles I faced just making it to the race because it really seemed like the odds were stacked against me this weekend, but all of that doesn't matter at this moment as I am still reveling in the fact that I actually finished within the required time. When I started walking back in August at 254+ pounds, I could barely make it a mile without stopping. Thank you fellow FS peeps for keeping me focused, inspiring me, and giving me the determination not only to lose 80+ pounds but to reach down deep and bust through the wall of self-doubt to go on and finish 26.2 miles of an extremely challenging course. I am forever grateful.

Congrats and what an accomplishment! Maybe some day I'll get there too! I can't even picture myself running for miles without an accompanying image of a pack of wild, rabid dogs chasing me!!!!

Holy Hannah! 80 lbs AND a marathon? Have you always been such an over achiever? ;-) One of these accomplishments on it's own is awesome, but in combination, it's definitely a SIGNIFICANT achievement. Keep your focus and you will continue to succeed!
