Good Morning, FS Warriors! Well, here we are again. Another Friday, marking the end of most people's workweek, and the transition into that glorious event we call a weekend, where we try to accomplish a week's worth of projects, and rest and relaxation into two days. We get about 52 Fridays a year, and this is the 18th one. Hard to believe we are just getting out of the snow and cold season and we're a third of the way through another year. I think of all the things I've put off doing because it was too cold or too much snow, and pretty soon I'll be putting off projects because it's too hot. I definitely need to plan better what projects I'll concentrate on indoors when the weather isn't that agreeable, and what I'll do outdoors when it is. Come to think of it, I probably ought to do the planning inside, when it's cold, so I don't waste valuable time when the weather is nice, when I could be outdoors doing something constructive. Is this making sense? When I read back over this, it doesn't sound all that profound, most of you are probably already skilled at this strategy. I have to be careful that I don't get analysis paralysis, where I get so consumed with planning down to every detail, that I never go from strategical to tactical - e,g., I never get started. Ha, wasn't that fun?
Speaking of strategy, I've actually been kicking around the idea of a marathon. Have I lost my marbles? Well, of course, but that happened many years ago. Seriously, I seem to be blessed with relatively good health. And if I am running 3 or 4 miles right now, with the equivalent of two 30 lb. bags of dog food on my shoulders, I am becoming naive enough to think that I may be able to start training for a marathon over the next few months, losing weight in the process, and if things go well, run a marathon. Then I could take it off my bucket list. I'm not projecting any particular month right now, just considering the option. I don't have to be a speed demon, all I have to do is complete the race before they close the gates - I think that's usually 5 1/2 or 6 hours. Anybody else considering a first marathon?
Haven't really done all that well with my eating plan, and that was probably because I didn't have a plan. I need to work on that Exit strategy - you know - where you're tempted and you run from it. I haven't been very good at that lately. DW went grocery shopping yesterday, which can be an all day job for her, and she asked me to meet her at a restaurant for supper. Well, the cheese and mushroom smothered chicken and french fries, augmented by an apple salad, delivered another blow to my already dwindling reserves. The only thing I conquered yesterday was the will to fill. Today is another day, and gratefully, life goes on.
Today is a rest day from running, so you get to be entertained by my rambling rhetoric. :) I have my first class for a Concealed Carry gun permit tomorrow morning. It's not that I have a need to carry a gun around like John Wayne or anything like that; I just want to exercise my 2nd amendment right, before it doesn't exist anymore. I know that not all of my FS friends are onboard with me on this, but hey, I served quite a few years in the service, defending your right to disagree with me. So, have at it. It's supposed to be in the 70's tomorrow, so I might even be able to get out on the motorcycle. Hmmm, maybe that's why I don't get as much done in the nice weather as I should. I'll have to think about that one. So, anyway, here's wishing a wonamous day and weekend to all my FS Buddies! Toodles!
