Candkforme's Journal, 15 May 21

My focus has been solely on weight loss for the past 4 months. I find myself anxious, frustrated and irritated more often than feeling positive and happy. I don’t know how to change my expectations and be happy with any drop in weight. I realize I didn’t put it on all at once, but when I see people dropping big numbers, I wonder what I’m doing wrong. Comparing myself to others is the wrong thing to do and I know it, but how do I just get happy and acknowledge the positive in the effort?

As you say, you can't compare yourself to others. I am impressed by people who consistently drop more than 1lb a week however for me it's more realistic to only drop 1lb. It's still a step in the right direction

Perspective. First and foremost, what you feel, every dieter feels. Every. Single. One. In fact I feel that way right now. So what? That's just my remaining fat fighting for it's life and begging me to quit. I can either persist or quit. Same choice every day. Second, please know that you are kicking ass. You have dropped 30# since January and are halfway to your goal. That's a win in any league. Finally, while I believe that role models, benchmarking to those who have already achieved that to which we aspire can be strongly positive. But only if their journey is similar to ours. Out of context comparisons are not productive. Let's go! Sun's out. You're kicking ass. The finish line awaits. #stillgrindtime #stayhungry #inspiring

Jimmie nailed it! Spot on! Celebrate the small victories and continue the pace that will win the race. It's a marathon not a sprint. So each day proceed that way. I think most are the same way I just hit my 60lbs down. But I'm like well I want more. It's never good enough. But I need to stop and appreciate where I was... where I am... and where I'm heading! I'm 250lbs for the first time in probably 6 years or longer. So don't be so hard on yourself.

Over and over I keep saying, "Slow and steady wins the race"

I think people who have "big" drops- either are pretty obese or have had a huge calorie surplus and then eaten less food and lost some of the water and such. You are getting closer to goal and it slows but you look to be doing fantastically- so congrats to you. Also- if you are lifting weights at all- you may be losing inches and building muscle.

The thing you need to be mindful of is everyone on FS has different goals and are using different methods to get where they want to be. People who drop a lot of weight are probably at a higher weight or they might even be doing something extreme. Or it is a flush of water weight. Some may have a more intense workout than you do. Some may have bounced up and down in weight their entire life. For every lb you lose slowly it is more likely it will be a lb that is gone for good. Make small changes over a longer period of time and it will be an easier journey and likely one you won't ever have to do again. Stay strong !

Any progress is to be celebrated... why?... because you are working on you. That’s all that matters. Sometimes we are up, sometimes we are down. Your FS family is on the journey with you, not your competition. Oh for me... I’m up 4-5lbs this morning (celebration dinner and such on Friday), so maybe I’ll see big drops next week, but it’s the general trend down, not the fluctuations.

You'll drive yourself batty if you compare your journey to others'. Assuming your irritation has been ongoing, have you considered changing a couple of things in your diet? I noticed a lot of highly processed snack foods listed, and wondered if maybe swapping some out for baby carrots or cherries or fresh pineapple would help with your moods. Fruit is sweet, but not full of artificial sweeteners. All part of the "Garbage in, Garbage out" saying. Your pace is fine for weight loss, and we all get frustrated at times when there's a plateau, but just keep pressing forward, and you'll get there! 💚

Hi there, I understand how you feel. I decided to take the time to focus on my fitness because I really enjoy the workouts and seeing the improvements in stamina and flexibility, so even if the scale isn't moving I know my body is getting fitter and my mind happier with those endorphins. So find what you love on this journey, whether it is exercise or creating healthy meals, and start enjoying that🙂🌻. Have a wonderful weekend. 🙏🏽💕

Stop focusing on losing weight. Focus on how you feel. How are your emotions? Worry about getting in walks and stretching. Worry about meeting you health needs. Your weight will drop when you stop raising your cortisol levels with stress and anxiety. You’re sabotaging your weight loss and probably end up gaining weight. Being in flight or fight mode stores fat.

Oh I am just like you. You go week to week eating so little😯but I was told to remember a pound a week is usually the norm. Keep going strong

CandK, may I kindly suggest that you think back to how you felt in January, 30+ pounds ago. Try on a dress or pair of pants that now falls off you. You have lost weight and taken major steps to improve your health and should give yourself a lot more credit. Maybe you are (over)due for a non-food reward of some kind to acknowledge all your hard work that is paying off.

Remember, your numbers are something for others to be in awe over as well. I’ve lost 11 pounds in the time you have lost 32!

Do you challenge yourself with exercise? It can be quite rewarding!

First don’t compare yourself to others. Second put yourself on a calorie count that you can handle. Count everything, have fun putting all you consume in this great app. Lastly drink a lot of water and stop eating every night at 7:00. Oh eat all your heavy stuff early and eat lighter stuff as night fall. Sit back and watch the weight fall. So smile you will be alright. Good night

Many of us gain and lose the same for years. Get inspiration but not depression. I believe some results are fake just for self confidence
