Hey My Loves! Is anyone here practicing Intermittent Fasting along with a low carb diet/Keto? How is that going? About 4-5 days a week, I do OMAD. I’m Thinking of giving LC/Keto a chance... but where & how do I start? Thanks!

I used to do low-carb and fell into intermittent fasting quite naturally with it. If you want to give low-carb a try, the easiest way is to build your meals around a moderate portion of protein, low-carb (above-ground) vegetables and some fat (oil, butter, cheese, nuts, or naturally occurring in the meat) for flavor. Keto requires stricter carb-counting so that might be something you do once you just eat more broadly low-carb.

@LaughingChevre Thank you so much! I’m going to give it a try! I think it will help me make better food choices & help me get to my goal weights. Hope all is well!

Low carb, high fat, mid protein works particularly well for me. Restricting carbs to under 50 grams, better yet under 20. Lots of non starchy vegetables. Full fat dairy. Nuts and seeds. I'm thinking it may be the one and only way for me to unload belly fat. Not for everyone, but works for me. Feel fasting would be easy as I am rarely hungry.

I hope it helps you reach your goals Dilia. It was not for me long-term, but it did allow me to enjoy a bit more of the fattier foods I like (cheese, nuts, some cuts of beef, full-fat dairy) by cutting carbs.

I stumbled on intermittent fasting by accident while on keto.... works for me during the week. I have never been a big breakfast eater, and with keto I wasn't hungry, so started skipping breakfast to shift my calories to after work, ha, and the found out that it was called intermittent fasting. Anyway, I suggest trying keto first, it takes a good 2-3 days of carbs below 20-25 grams to get (and stay) in ketosis... definitely not for everyone.

Everyone has different results due to variables: age, sex, health, physical limitations etc. My Wife and I been fasting for 1 year & 5 months. We started 16: 8 for the first five weeks , then changed it up M- F 18:6 ( noon- 6pm) and Sat- Sun 16:8. ( 10-6 pm) This is working really well with us combined with calorie counting and healthy eating. As far as dietary restrictions about 90% Paleo but as of January 2020 we started changing things up. We really cut back on our meat intake. We only meat once or twice a month. Mostly steamed chicken or ground Turkey. Our veggie intake has increases but after 3 years of Paleo we added beans & oatmeal back in a few times a month. As of April 19,2021 we are going totally vegetarian. We both have lost 82lbs so far. Also we have our treat day or days on Saturday or Sunday. There’s an app called BodyFast that’s what we use ( the free stuff) we don’t pay for the coach. Good luck on your healthy lifestyle journey.🍀🍀🍀🌈🌈🌈

Hi Dilia, I'm using IF, where I fast for 18 hrs and have an eating window for 6hrs, many days this leads me to OMAD, I strive to close the stomach door by or before 6pm, I don't always hit the mark but I still try each day. I don't practice IF for weight loss (it's just a residual blessing) but rather to allow my body the time it needs to properly digest food and do its regenerative work, funny enough I was always one to skip breakfast and have a late lunch, so in a strange turn of events IF comes naturally to me. For weight loss I had tried CICO which worked well for me in past years (especially in my early 20s) but being close to 40 now (my tween gets sore when I say I'm in my 30s😂) CICO doesn't work anymore for me (tried it and the scale moved up😑) and so I've had to use a low carb eating plan. I try to follow the glycemic index and use better starches such as sweet potato, and wholewheat rice/pasta. For the remainder of April I am not using wheat as I'm pressing toward the 60s and want to bring my carbs lower and make the carbs I do use really good ones. I always work very hard to get more than 1 cup of green vegetables in daily. I also use lime juice often, usually in the mornings (always did this and I've continued) and apple cider vinegar (ACV) as salad dressing or in water (2 tbsp with a cup of water) and drink with my meal. Wishing you much success, have a blessed day🙏🏽💗

I have been on KETO and IF for over a year now and it is really what I should have been doing for years! This is easy and allows so many choices for meals and if it is a big mid day meal I am done for the day as my DR says if you are NOT hungry just dont eat! I know I wont starve from one meal to the next so as of this week I am down 35+ lbs and going strong. I love this site as it shows my carbs (under 20 a day) proteins and fats. I don't eat breakfast just tea and lemon water. I fast for 2 days Monday and Thursdays end my eating at 6 pm and just have bone broth and water/tea and I don't eat until 6pm the next day. I am under a DR care and it is all good to be accountable to someone who will monitor my numbers. My energy is awesome and get in at leat 10,000 steps a day and have recently started shadow boxing to get some HIIT in as well. So go for it and remember it is a lifestyle and not a diet, you will be amazed at how easy you and do this! Good Luck!!!
