How does everyone offset a soda addiction? I usually have drank 3 to 6 sodas a day, sometimes more or less, and stopped yesterday. I'm currently using a generic Walmart caffeine pill to stop the headaches. I have stopped drinking soda before this way, but never have been addicted as I am now. I didn't even realized how much I did "need" it until I slowed down on my intake, until I quit all together. I quite amazed at how much sugar I was taking in on a daily basis.

That’s awesome that you have chosen to kick the soda habit! I haven’t had a Diet Coke since 2003. Enough about me! Drink a LOT of water. You are withdrawing from both caffeine and sugar so your body is going to do a lot of talking about this in the form of headache and maybe even a little anxiety. Try some herbal tea. The headaches are real. Slowly taper off the caffeine tabs. Lay down with a cold compress if you need to. Lots of self care and acknowledgment for the task you have signed on for!!

Wow! Never really heard of this over sugar. Keep hydrated! You can do this and you’ll be better off in the future when you do!

I went from a 2, 3 liter a day habit to 0, cold turkey, about 12 years ago. The withdrawal was akin to coming off heroin. Shakes, chills, puking. Never again. Give yourself permission to take it easy while you come off it. You're gonna feel crappy. Drink water, stay comfortable if you can. It will pass and be so worth getting off that poison.

Drink carbonated water

I drink bubbly, flavored waters. Spindrift is an awesome one, sold at Costco (probably other places too), but even regular old store brands have good choices. No sugar, no caffeine, and some have no artificial ingredients, or salt, potassium or added phosphates. Just plain old carbonated water. You can add a shot glass or two of your favorite juice to flavor them up if you'd like. Any choice is preferable to soda pop.

In the past Izzy carbonated juices were my go to for soda cravings. This time around I'm all about fruit punch Crystal Light. Its not carbonated but its sweet, increased my water intake substantially and I'm not feeling deprived or craving for a soda.

I'm 60s. My Coke habit started when I was about 18/19. 3 sometimes 4 a day. When I started my health jouney, I knew I had to give it up after many years of Coke, DrPepper, MrPibb, Cherry Pepsi. Full octane, never could stand the diet versions. Took me months to wean myself off. Replaced it with Tea and real sugar. I'm Coke free since Oct 2019. Moved from sugar to sweetener tea last July. Would love to replace it water but I'm not there yet. Good luck, keep at it and don't give up.

Try switching to flavored carbonated water. I drink Bubly in every flavor. You get the fizzy carbonated feel in your mouth like a coke but no calories. I have tried every flavor of bubly which I personally think have the best taste out of all the carbonated waters ( except Perrier but it’s too expensive) you have to find the flavors you like. once you do tho then you really don’t need anything else to drink. I have 1 cup of coffee in the morning and drink the bubly’s the rest of the day and night.

I've been soda free since 2014. I quit cold turkey. I do like the Bubly waters, I get the carbonation kick that I missed from sodas.

oh my gosh I used to drink so much coke it was insane! I was addicted to that and butterfingers. I started adding some flavored waters and decaffeinated tea into my normal routine. When I gave myself more choices than just the coke to drink it became easier and easier. As far as the headaches, I found that if I started my day with a cup of reg. coffee and tired to drink plenty of water they lessened. Now, I don't really even drink soda. If I do it's decaffeinated and only one. hope this helps..best of luck

I use different flavors of Crystal Light. I am pretty much soda free unless I have an upset stomach.
