No weight loss this week, but not really been concentrating on diet. I've gone from being a reasonably fit 64 year old, to being almost an invalid. I can't walk, dress myself, do chores etc. I spent a day in A & E and the doctor there diagnosed PMR. Waiting for a phone call from GP to discuss blood tests, but he's had results a week, even though I've told him I'm in excruciating pain. Sorry to ramble on, but I'm getting the figure and weight I wanted without even trying. Anyone else heard of this disease? x
71.2 kg Lost so far: 8.6 kg.    Still to go: 1.4 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.

So sorry to hear you've not been well. PMR? Polymyalgia rheumatica?

Yes exactly.

Your GP would have done a load of bloods to rule out rheumatoid arthritis and other such conditions, which is why A&E could see the results and deduce that it could be polymyalgia rheumatica. Your gp will be referring you to rheumatology-I would ask for an urgent referral if you're still in a lot of pain. Drugs like diclofenac can help, but some people with it need steroids during the flare ups. I have a friend who was recently diagnosed - it is a diagnosis that requires lots of other conditions to be excluded, so your gp was right to do so. It is unfortunately becoming an increasingly common inflammatory condition. I hope things start to improve. Take care xx

Thanks both for your comments. Just been laughing with hubby about being able to fit into size 12 clothes. Pity it's taken this illness to get on track with weight loss 🙄 Sitting by the phone waiting for a call from GP. Will report in later.
