My Dad died this morning.

He was admitted to the ICU February 18. He was intubated March 1. I made him a DNR this past Wednesday. I got the call that I was anticipating since his admission; the strongest man in my Life was dying. I had the staff discontinue life support at midnight last night and he fell asleep in God's arms at 04:33.

At midnight, I also celebrated 9 months sobriety and my new lifestyle. All of my recovery and continued self-care has absolutely prepped me for life's most unwelcomed events. I was absolutely present with astounding clarity on how to handle his hospitalization and impending death. Without a healthy mind and body I can assure you these past couple of weeks would have been a personal disaster on top of a great loss.
