Day 6 of 6. I'm at the airport & heading home, and feeling so good... Good about how my mom is doing (no better, but no noticeably worse either), her new friends here, how settled she seems, and how well the time with her went... Good about getting to see my 2close friends here & other relatives... And good about my eating & that I didn't binge or eat sugar while I was away, as that's a first & a huge hurdle for me, a major improvement in my construction of a healthy roadway. And yes, I'm gloating & patting myself on the back, but as you well know & have certainly had to read about here, there were many detours along the way. So, I'm taking something we learned at the mindful eating retreat to heart, and spending a bit of time relishing the progress & accomplishment, just as I more easily bask in the gloom & doom when things go astray.
And I have DH picking me up at the airport & more good things lined up when I get home. Tomorrow is his birthday, so we'll go out to dinner tonight to celebrate with DS (hoping he's up to it as he's been sick with a sore throat). Tomorrow I have coffee planned with a friend, a massage on Weds & mani/pedi on Thurs -- a bit over the top, I know, but I was expecting to come back mentally & physically spent, so wanted to set things up to get me back in good spirits... Who'd have known there'd be no need... But I think I'll keep those appointments anyway :)!
But, before I get on my way, I'll pray for serenity. And through this one traveling day, and each one meal, moment, bite, thought & emotion, I'll pray, breathe, log, journal & express my way. I'm so grateful for each of amazing you, my family & IRL friends, that my mom is doing ok & the trip went so well, that I hurdled a major obstacle on my healthy eating & living journey, and that I have the health & wealth to live this life I love.
