SwtDivaHou's Journal, 12 Jan 09

I don't know how I did it but I didn't gain any weight but I didn't lose any either. I knew for sure I was going to gain a pound or two from eating the steak and potatoes. Saturday was a high points day for me. I took a large portion of the flex points just on that one day. I do not want to go into my activity points so I am really trying to stay within my daily allotment.

Just stay within your points and I bet you will be okay. Yay- no gain! That is great! Just stay on track and that scale should start dipping downward. Steak and potatoes- 2 of my favorites!!

Oh I know and it was a t-bone - so so tender and the roasted potatoes were sooo good. I am trying to limit my red meat to twice a month. I counted that steak as one since it was the same steak, I cut it in half at the restuarant and asked them to place it in a to-go box so I wouldn't be tempted to eat the whole 12oz steak in one sitting.

You are doing good! It is the little changes like this that will help your body to lose weight. It is just a whole new way of doing things. Your body will thank you for it! LOL!

I certainly hope so!! I am still upset that one cup of white long-grain rice is 13 points!!! OMG!! I know I used to eat more than that but now I am measuring out my food. White rice is now cut out of my diet because that is an entire meal! I looked up brown rice and it is only 4 pts so that will now be the rice of choice.

I actually like brown rice better than white rice. It has a better flavor to it and it is much better for you.

Hey- check again about the white rice. Maybe the one you looked at was for uncooked- like what would go into a whole recipe. The other white rice - long grain is 4 points per serving. That is a HUGE difference.

Hi I want to offer you encouragement to achieve your weight loss goal. I know how tough it is and my story is not that different from yours. I had an excellent week and I have identified several things I would like to do differently this week. If you haven't already, I suggest you search on your foods before you cook / consume it. Often times when you see the number of points for a food, your cravings diminishes (smile).

Thank you so much redone, I looked that up and changed it. Whew!! That was a relief, I went into shell shock when I thought that one cup was 13 pts. It was only 4 points. Thank you AC, that is a great idea. I knew I was eating over my points on Saturday for dinner. I saved my flex points for that double date. I will definitely do that. I went on ebay and ordered the 2009 Momentum WW plan since I only do it online, I don't have the books and dining out guide like those that attend meetings. I am going to cancel my online subscription because with FatSecrets tracking my points and the other tools, I don't need to continue to pay the online fees. :-)

YAY!!! 13 points of UN-COOKED rice is like 4 cups worth cooked...I also plan many of my meals ahead of time. I even enter them into the diet journal to see what portions I can have, and "play with" the numbers. If you have a recipe, just enter all of the ingredients into the diary, then enter your portion amount to get your total points for that recipe.

Oooh I did that with my smoothie recipe that I decided to share with everyone. If I work out and end up getting home after 8:00 pm, I drink my little homemade smoothie and it fills me up. I am not starving when I wake up in the morning and according to fat secrets, it comes out to 7.5 pts per serving which is a 12oz glass.

Well, do share!!!! I have a recipe exchange group if you are interested. We would love to have it on that!

Here ya'll go...since it's still awaiting approval by the FS team: Homemade Strawberry Banana Smoothie An economical smoothie that can leave you feeling full. Great meal substitution. Ingredients: 3 cups whole strawberries 3 medium bananas 2 servings dannon plain yogurt 1 serving silk vanilla 1 serving lowfat strawberry frozen yogurt Directions: Put ingredients in smoothie/blender in this order: 1/2 cup of Silk Vanilla milk, 1 cup of strawberries, 1 banana, 1 serving of plain yogurt, 1 cup of strawberries, 1 banana. Blend together (mix) then smooth. Add 1 cup of Lowfat Strawberry frozen yogurt, 2nd serving of plain yogurt, last cup of strawberries, and last banana. blend then smooth. It should be a thick liquid, not real thick but not thin either. Pour mixture into a pitcher, and place in the freezer for about 4 hours. It will be cold and slightly thicker. This mixture should yield two servings if not more. I pour mine into 12oz plastic bottles and drink as a replacement for dinner or breakfast. You don't have to do it in my order but I find that when I want it to taste more strawberry, I add more strawberries, so I taste as I blend to get it just right. :-)

I am so interested in the recipe exchange group. I love to try new recipes and my boys love to be guinea pigs...although they don't know they are my test group. lol. I am going to have to add my jambalaya recipe that is made with rice, broccoli, corn, spinach and ground turkey sausage - that's the healthy one. ;-)

OMG! That smoothie sounds wonderful!! I was just asking my husband last night about Orange Julius. (We don't have one around here anymore), but they made this strawberry julius that was soooooooo good. I really miss it. The last time I had one of those I think I was in Jr. High or High School. Yay! A new member to my little group... Please share all the recipes you want! I don't have much activity in there from others, so please, ADD AS MANY AS YOU LIKE!!!
