Debbie Cousins's Journal, 01 Sep 20

Not doing well all. Actually had to buy some new pajamas and some new underwear because all the ones I have are too tight and are leaving marks on my waist (or where my waist ShOULD be!) The scale is creeping up toward 250. Starting a modified Calorie Counting today.
111.6 kg Lost so far: 5.9 kg.    Still to go: 43.5 kg.    Diet followed: Poorly.
Gaining 2.5 kg a Week

Counting calories works! You can have your favorite foods in moderation. Just don't have your "trigger foods" in the house if you can help it....a least for now.

Troll reported. Thanks for all the kind comments. At first, I was thinking that I would try to stay under a certain Calorie goal (1,800 would work for me to lose weight), but then I decided that for NOW, I'm just going to record EVERYTHING I eat - even (and especially) the bad stuff. So far, for the day, I'm at 2,290, and I will probably have something else before the day is over. MOST of my calories were from snacks - three servings of Nacho Cheese Doritos, a serving of Ruffles with lunch, and two servings of ice crea m (not the PB one that I listed in my Food Diary, but it was the closest to the calorie count on the Friendly's Black Cherry Chocolate Chunk that isn't listed. The new underwear are MUCH more comfortable and I don't feel so gross and disgusting in them.

Water Debbie, it made a huge difference friend. Remember that you matter!! It’s ok to enjoy. Find your most favorite meals that won’t push you over. This virus is spinning people out of control, and me too. It’s normal..... but don’t let it control you.💜💚

next to calorie counting look at volumetrics. foods that take up alot of physical space in ya tummy without alot of calories attached to them. calorie counting is king, but their are other tools that can help. find what works for you

It's great you are still posting! To me that speaks volumes that you haven't given up. For me I find it's best for me to track even the bad cals. If I don't then I am off the rails and not holding myself accountable. I read a few of your recent posts and I saw where you were going to cut calories further to try to lose more. I'm so glad to see you are going to keep it at 1800 for now (if I read that right). I used to think if I cut further then I would lose more quickly but i would keep cutting things until I felt i could not eat anything. (My anorexic days). That gets old and sets you up to fail. If I don't eat enough now my metabolism slows and I feel weak and hungry. Then I blow it and eat everything I can get my hands on. Right now I'm finding planning small 200 cal snack in the evening and before bed helps me bridge the gap between dinner and bedtime. I look at the clock and tell myself I can make it 2 hours before my snack. Its good to identity your triggers and try to plan for them. I think the hardest is the mental focus but just dig your heels in and don't give up no matter how many times you fail! Let go of the past meal and focus on the next one. You can do it Debbie!

Debbie, I can relate. I had this happening the beginning of "stay at home" order until maybe a few weeks ago. I don't know what 'clicked' in my brain but I'm not on track. Maybe it had something to do with a real heart to heart self talk or something BUT for today I am ok. I just have to take it one day & sometimes 1 moment at a time. Take care & keep on FatSecret, there is so much support here :-)

The other BIG thing that is helping me right now Debbie, is only eating REAL food, not FAKE 'foods', I would love to eat the Doritos (would not stop at 1 snack bag) But that is not my choice for now since it is not REAL food. I don't keep those items in the house. I have an advantage with that since my kids & grands don't normally eat that stuff (although they do like nuts which I overindulge), plus I can't afford to buy them either.
