veggies yuk's Journal, 19 Aug 08

i have been deliquent here lately in recording what is going on...so here goes

this past weekend was packed...on friday night i cooked (with the help of 5 others) for 150 people...we even had a cotton candy machine...i told my friend wanttabthin to keep me away from it...and she did...i only picked pieces of it off of her...she does not like it so she was making the cones for the kids...it is amazing how much of that stuff people eat without realizing it...i know i would have, if i had been doing it...i got about 4 or 5 compliments about my weight loss...

saturday was a pool party at my aunts house (she is the one who got me started on the sb woe)...so there was good and bad food there...i had a lot of the good and some of the bad...and i got alot of compliments there...most of these people i see a couple times a year...so in addition to my hair being shorter and colored, my weight loss was very evident...i was told that you could see my eyes now and that they sparkled again...my eyes are either green or brown depending on the day and they have flecks in them...so i really felt like i was on a high...

sunday...after church we went to the grocery and i even went into the produce section where the veggies are...and BOUGHT SOME...don't tell...will post as i eat them...we canned again for another 8 quarts of sause...

one of the main things i learned from the beach was that i do not have to hide from the green things (all veggies) and that they will not kill me...so i have decided that i will have them in the house adn will attempt to eat them still...and if i am out and they are part of my dinner i will not have them removed...unless it is brocolli...thats just plain nasty...lol...

i am on day 324 of this woe...time seems to be flying past...

BRAVO!! I'm so proud of you, EATING VEGGIES!!! You're doing beautifully and learning to love, or okay, I won't push it, "tolerate" new foods, is a huge step towards being healthy!! GREAT JOB!

I love your sense of humor. That sense is going to take you a long way in this journey. I really do think of you when I cook, prepare, and eat vegetables. No poo! I mean that my observation is sincere. I do not mean that vegetables are NOT poo!

Glad you are testing out the new veggies and that you've already found some that you can at the very least tolerate. Compliments are amazing, aren't they? Helps you keep your focus. We all know it's not only about looks, but it sure helps! :)

Im glad people are finally giving you the compliments you deserve. Sure we know we do this for our health AND looks but it always seems more motivating when others notice our hard work. Your adventure into veggie land seems to be going well. Let's face it, it is healthier to eat them and you are finding some that you really like, so it wonderful that you are such an "adventurer'!

Hey girl, I'm proud of you, too. I've seen you at your heaviest and now. YOU LOOK GREAT and the compliements from those who don't see you often are VERY MUCH DESERVED!!!!! As for the Veggies, here again WAY TO GO!!!! We've talked A LOT about your hatred/dislike for anything green that most call edible. I'm proud of you for taking on this challenge. Keep it up. COTTON CANDY...YOU DID GOOD, unless you snuck more off the back of my shirt or hair that I didn't feel, you didn't do bad. I can't believe how sticky I got. esp. my shirt. I'm glad I was busy and didn't have much time to sneak any. I eat it it's just not worth paying the price at fairs/carvinals for it. I'd rather have other things like nachos (having both free that night was a challenge to us both). Keep up the good work!!!!

You are so right in what you wrote in your comments on my journal today. I am almost PARANOID about putting fibers and fruits back into my diet. Right now I am having one (1) portion of fresh fruit and one (1) portion of fiber (bread or pasta) a day. I am thinking that might not be enough but you are SO RIGHT! I am trying to ease into Phase II and Phase III.

You are so funny and insigtful... you should write more! Try going to a farmers market (I seem to be typing that a lot today, lol) Buying fresh and cheep helps! Besides that... ask the people selling it for a fave recipe!
