My first attempt at homemade seiten. It turned out excellent. With bbq sauce or in this case mushroom gravy my neighbor who is an omnivore loved it! Open face seiten sandwich on Ezekiel sprouted bread with mushroom gravy!

Hello Paula, I just sent you a private message thought the fatsecret.com website. for some reasons I am unable get private message on my phone app so I suggest that you log into your account from your computer and check your inbox. the message I sent is a little about myself and why I went vegan and I point to a lot of references of many videos, audio lectures and books all free. I am just trying to find more people like me that enjoy the same things and I see your food that you post. I do not send this to too many people but just those that I think would appreciate the information, what you do with it is of course up to you. Chris

I have seen this all over Europe, they look like they’re very complicated to make. If you don’t mind can you give a brief description of how you did this. Thank you in advance

Najwa Kale, this recipe took me about 10 minutes to whip up. I found it on Utube: from utuber I kill chickpeas, her father and her make it in the video. Ingredients: preheat oven 325 F 10 oz vital wheat gluten (a type of flour) 1/4 Cup Whole wheat flour (adds bulk) 1 Tablespoon garlic powder 1/2 Cup nutritional yeast Note: I added teaspoon onion powder, and 2 teaspoons parsley flakes, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper Mix ingredients, then add: Wet ingredients: 1 jar roasted red peppers with liquid (need 2 Cups liquid total so may need to add 1/2 Cup water. I forgot to buy the jar of roasted red peppers so used 1 can 15 oz fire roasted tomatoes (gives red tint like roast beef) 3 Tablespoons liquid aminos 2 Tablespoons lemon juice Mix it up will look like a big clump of bread dough, knead it for a couple of minutes and form into shape of roast/loaf Wrap loaf in parchment paper then aluminum foil, place onto cookie sheet Oven at 325 F for about 90 minutes Can marinate cooked loaf in favorite marinade, slice as lunch meat, use favorite bbq sauce or serve with mushroom gravy. Allow loaf to cool before slicing *hard to do smells so good, and the taste was fantastic!* Refrigerate overnight makes it easier to slice. Mushroom gravy in picture is from Brandnewvegan.com/mushroom-gravy/

Najwa Kale, yes you are welcome. I may want to place my can of fire roasted tomatoes in my blender or Nutrabullet for just a few pulses to make it slightly more liquid prior to adding to the recipe. I think I may have forgotten that step in the recipe. I will have to watch the video once more to be sure.

It still works but then you would get a more pink loaf throughout. I didn't do that step so you see chunks of tomato in my final loaf.
