Just out of curiosity what number should your sugars be at? I am not diabetic so I am a little clueless in this area. The more I know then the more encouragement I can offer.

Good morning Kathy! For the longest time, I had no idea. I simply went by the little handbook that comes with the glucose meter, which stated normal sugar is between 70-110, fasting. While 110-140 2hours after eating is considered normal. However, when I took the Amaryl, either 1mg (1/2 tablet) or 2mg (whole tablet) because my fasting sugar read 130-140, it would drop it entirely too low one day sending me all the way down to 50, which is really bad. So, when I finally remembered to ask him, he told me that 130s were good for diabetics, but if I wanted to "be OCD about it" then by all means continue with trying to keep it around 110. Long story short, I found when I accepted the 130s, then I would let it creep up to 140 and 150 fasting, sometimes as high as 175. Those numbers caused my A1C to go up to between 7-8. Which results in him wanting to put me on injections, not insulin, but injections nonetheless. I hate needles and the thought of having to give myself a shot sent me into panic attacks as well as tears. When my weight was around 219-215 my numbers looked better and my A1C was around 6-6.5. As my weight increased back to 230, my A1C also increased to 7.0 and in March was 7.2 A1C measures the glucose in your blood over the last 90 days. It's an average and it's usually done as a fasting measure. Health-wise, diabetes is really the only thing wrong with me, if you don't consider my weight. And at 5'11, 230 pounds does not look like I'm overweight.

Those blood sugar readings are amazing. It does take real effort to keep the blood sugars so steady. I know, I have been diabetic for 30 years and it is still a struggle sometimes. Good Job!!!
