Finally, finally - Higi says BMI "normal." Been waiting a long time for this, BMI = 24.88, 168 lb, bf% = 20.22. Wednesday ride, 100k, in diet language that's a 3,400 cal burn. Thurs ride, just 1,500 cal ride, 30 miles, recovery ride. 40 miles today, beautiful weather in Austin. Two more 40 mile rides Sat, Sun, more lovely weather. So, a 250 mile week. Not quite the 300+ mile week I did week before last, but still 50 miles ahead of schedule for Dec.
That's ride fuel in the pic, that entire box of Belvita Breakfast bars, 1,100 cals, five packs, blessed glycogen stores, barely half of today's ride fuel. I'll get the other half of fuel from pre-ride smoothie, 500 cals, then take 400 cals in my pack.
Really enjoying being this fit at 65 years old. Crazy, I never thought my body would do this kind of stuff, and it's getting easier, go figure. Live a Good Story...

- like a marathon - Well, cycling is not a weight bearing activity like running, but 200+ miles per week is same calorie burns as a runner doing 4 full marathons per week. When I used to run, I did a full marathon, under 4 hrs., which seemed pretty grueling. I'm riding like I would be running 4 of those per week, week after week. Way less chance of injury cycling. That's too much running, but some people do it.

Thank you all again, 2nd take. I've been working on this using a slow and gradual approach for over two years. Finally, Higi stopped saying "overweight" .. Like, 169, though really doesn't feel over weight to me, though

Just incredible! The commitment, beautiful pictures, commitment, awesome achievements, commitment, and did I say commitment? Your hard work is evident. It is probably so much better on your body to not be running the distances which would equal your rides. Obviously, you don't shy away from hard work, but taking care of joints and "pushing" in different ways seems so grest! Thanks for being so inspiring!!!
