Multiplicity1's Journal, 26 Jul 10

I am so excited even though it is unofficial - I have now lost exactly 50 lbs.! I went to the store a few days ago and picked up some dog food that weighed 44 lbs. and I could barely lift it. I can't imagine how I carried all that extra weight. And just imagine how I will feel when I get that additional 75 lb. off. That sounds intimidating when I say it but so did 50 lbs. before I lost it. It will come off a little at a time just like the lost weight did. My shorts I bought for San Antonio are getting too big but I'll try to manage through the summer. I was thinking about how I have lost probably 15 lbs. since I took my vow renewal photos. I will try to figure out how to post those (actually I will ask my 19 yr. old daughter how to do it). I have finally gotten fed up with the mess and I am actually going to clean my living room instead of just talking about it. I absolutely have to start doing those other exercise videos to help with my saggy stomach and thighs and I have to clean up to make room for the TV for the exercise videos. Besides I'm tired of the mess. Partly I don't know what to do with my old paid bills. I never know whether I should keep track of them or not. But I keep so many papers it's ridiculous. I have to pare down.
I'm hoping my husband will be able to walk for 45 minutes again today. It really helps my stress levels and I need it to lose weight. I went back on my blood pressure medication because my blood pressure was 140+ over 80 last night. I think that is too high. Anyway I'll keep checking it and if it is going too low again I will go back to the doctor. I haven't figured out how to handle meeting/talking with my old best friend yet. I will probably avoid her as much as possible tomorrow to give me some more time to calm down and figure out how to proceed with her. I am not looking forward to the meeting tomorrow night. We have a meeting prior to the regular meeting to discuss what to do about the noisy babies that have been disrupting the meeting. Some people have suggested volunteers could keep the babies in the outer lobby for the hour of the meeting. That would be a reasonable solution I think. Well I guess I should go and get busy on my living room.

Oh, Andrea! I'm SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!!!! 50 pounds! Now THAT'S what I call a milestone! You go, girl! And you're right- the rest of the weight will come off the same way - one pound at a time. You're doing such an incredible job, I hope you give yourself kudos for that! I also want to encourage you to walk whether your husband will join you or not. I've gotten used to working out on my own and now I actually enjoy it that way. As long as you're safe where you are walking, that is :). The other thing I want to encourage you on is to just START doing your dvd's. Having lost 50 lbs so far (!!!), you really want to start regular, disciplined exercise for a lot of reasons. Your blood sugar levels, your blood pressure, and really, with the kind of weight loss you're having, you really want to put some real effort into exercise to help those muscles and skin stay supple. At our age you can expect some sagging skin when you lose weight, but you can minimize it as much as possible by building up muscle underneath and the circulation improvement helps with the skin a bit. No lecture, just the voice of experience :)------------I think your solution for the crying babies is a sound one. Hope your meeting goes well. Try not to head in there with a defensive attitude - just be your smiling, gentle self and you'll do just fine.

Congrats on 50 pounds!!!! :) :) :) I keep my bills separated into folders and at the beginning of a new year, I rubber-band them together and put them in the attic. I use new folders to start the new year off. You could always scan them? After scanning, shred them, and after all the scanning is done burn them onto a back up disc in case something should happen? Some bill companies have the bills available online, so you could just save them all to a data disc and don't worry about printing them anymore?

Congratulations Andrea: that is an amazing milestone. And yes, struggling trying to lift something that approximates your loss really brings it home. We're all cheering you on to your next milestone. ______________ Good luck on tidying up, and de-cluttering. It's such a fantastic feeling when it's done. We're pretty anal about our bills and receipts: hubby wrote an accounting system that we key all our credit & eftpos transactions into, and he balances each statement when it arrives. Then we file the statements... we've go back years! I think he may even have payslips from when he first started working somewhere in the basement, that have traveled around the world and back again!
