I joined the 1,000 pound club today, lifting for the first time a half ton between my 1 rep maxes on bench press, back squat, and deadlift.
here's my workout:
15 push ups
Bench press
5 reps at 205 pounds 8 reps at 205 pounds 1 rep at 270 pounds (new PR by 5 pounds)
Squat 10 reps at 185 pounds 5 reps at 265 pounds Failed at 325 (went down too far, almost sat on the floor) 1 rep at 325 pounds (new PR by 10 pounds)
Deadlift 5 reps at 225 pounds 1 rep at 405 pounds (new PR by 50 pounds)
270 bench +325 squat+405 deadlift = 1,000 pounds! and I had a trainer present today for my big lifts to watch my form. he said I maintained solid for all three lifts.
then I figured I'd go for a bit of volume since I still had some time and did 2 sets of 12 reps military press at 135 pounds. I tried for a 3rd set but pulled a muscle in my upper back(felt like the lat on the right side) on the sixth rep, so I stretched and called it a day.
my short term goal these last few months has been hitting the 1,000 pound mark. I'm there. My new goal is to cut for a while and continue lifting until I get my body weight down and strength up to the point I can do 5 solid pull ups. currently, I can do about 3/4 of one lol.
I'll need to increase my arm, shoulder, and back strength and lower my total body weight. if some of the more experienced lifters here have any advice for this next leg of the journey, I'd very much appreciate it! I've only been lifting since January, so I'm still somewhat new as I hadn't ever really done any weight training before about 6 months ago.
