I'm trying to get some kind of exercise in everyday. Right now it has been my walking dogs. They are loving it! I can do about 3 miles in an hour with the two bigger ones. My smaller one can only go about a mile before he's done. One just wants to run, run, run! I'm really thinking about starting to run now. I know it will be slow at first and I probably could only go a couple mins at a time at a decent pace. I know I feel like I'm obsessed with this warrior dash race, but I'm just so mad I blew it off earlier this year. I had had 4 months to try and build up to running a 5k and I was so darn lazy.

Walking is a great start! My dog loves running as well, so she is the one who inspired me to run. I started out alternating between walking .2 miles and jogging .2 miles for about 2 miles a day. She was so confused and wanted to run the entire time. :P But I had to start out slow and work my way up so I didn't injure myself. And I wouldn't call it obsession, I would call it dedication. :) You can do it!

You should try the couch to 5K program. http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml It really helps to ease you into running! If you have a smart phone there are apps you can download (this one costs, but you can find similar programs for free) and it tells you when to walk, when to run, and when you're done!

I did learn that I had to let go of what I thought I could or couldn't do when I started running. When I first started I would run for a minute and be about to die. I started doing couch to 5K with a friend and it was about to kill me (I think talking while running was a part of it). One day I decided I wanted to run on one of the off days. I ran half a mile without stopping and decided to try and go for a mile. I ended up running 2 miles without stopping. It took me 30 minutes, but it was the first time I had ever run that far. I hadn't run a mile since I was a freshman in high school. A few days a later I ran 3 miles without stopping. I always had the mind set of "I don't like this" or "I can't do this," but since I've stopped thinking that way I've really surprised myself by what I've been able to do.
