In the olden days, when sugar was expensive, having something completely full of sugar was a treat. Nowadays, there is sugar in everything because it is so cheap and it's a cheap way to make things taste good and have lots of calories. Even "fat free" usually means full of sugar. Fat free oreos for example are the same number of calories as the regular oreos - difference is what, children? Yes, sugar replaced the fat so the cookies would still taste good! When I was a kid, and when my kids were little, desserts were for Sunday night. We ate a big meal late in the afternoon, and then just before bed we got canned fruit with whipped cream, strawberry shortcake, or a couple of homemade cookies. Once a week. Not every night and certainly not as a reward for eating yucky vegetables for dinner every night! You didn't like the regular food, tough luck, you went hungry! Reading up on diet, exercise, and diet versus exercise. These points are still true: Diet is 80% of your weight loss - you can't outrun a bad diet. Cardio/running/swimming - these are necessary for heart and bone health. Weight-lifting/bodyweight resistance exercises - these are necessary to build and MAINTAIN muscle mass. If the muscle isn't working it shrinks
So, for best all-around health, you need all the components. Good nutrition and plenty of movement.
Anywho, I am struggling with these cookies I brought home and unfortunately they are winning! Got rid of half and plan to bring the other two boxes on my trip on Friday - my brothers and nephews can afford to eat them, the 3 of them together probably have less bodyfat than I have. My sister-in-law is a marathon runner - she probably doesn't even eat cookies. Going to get coffee right now, and fill my water bottle. Happy Wednesday!
