Sorry, no, it doesn't really boost your metabolism; "weight loss" might be primarily water loss.
Best thing to alter / increase metabolism is building up more muscle; and, although muscle weighs more than fat, it takes up less room. So the weight on the scale may not change much, but you'll see your clothes getting looser. Oh, and also drink about a gallon of water a day - it really does help move things along!
