Angel pushed me so hard today, I wanted to just fall down on my exercise mat and not get up anymore. She said today was "Friday," which is ladders day. It's Indian Run day, too. If you don't know what those mean, I will be more than happy to explain. Think along the lines of the torturous spinning classes, except without the crotch-numbing seat -- just hard heart-pumping, I'm-going-to-go-home-and-sleep-really-soundly-tonight-kind of workout.

1. Run 30 seconds, do push-ups or whatever else she tells you to do for 30 seconds (You do this about six times).

2. Wall sits with weights: 45 degrees/90 degrees. 2 minutes

3. Ladders: jog/sprint for increasing amounts of time, except this is where she began to prod at me with "GO GO GO JOANNE, GO GO GO" each time. And I thought about this time, I can handle this. I'm going to smile. Little did I know this was only the beginning.

4. SIX. Six jumping jacks, six push-ups. Five jumping jacks, five push-ups. Four jumping jacks, four... push...ups... Three jumping (where am I?) jacks... three (help, my breasts are too heavy) push...ups... Two jump/tripping jacks...(I want to just lay my face on this mat), two... (can't... lift... myself... up). One (I'm going to faint) jumping jack (I think I have a wedgie), one push... (What do you mean, get up and run???)

5. Indian Run. "HEY, JOANNE, COME OVER HERE TO THE RUNNING GROUP." Oh no no no no no. You mean, the group of 20-some-year-olds who have no problem running? THAT running group, Angel? So I leave the comfort of my walking group, and I know I'm going to fall behind halfway through. Three times I falter and try to walk it, but guess who stomps her way beside me and says, "DON'T YOU QUIT ON ME NOW! YOU HAVE 5 SECONDS TO FILL THAT GAP. NOW! GO!" She told me she didn't care if I had to cut corners, I had to keep running with that group.

By the time we were walking and cooling down, and she was talking idly about this and that, I was on my mat, just trying to recover. Leach looked over and said, "Are you OK??? Don't die, Joanne! Don't die!" LOL I think I was just in shock. I don't remember being pushed so hard before. I mean, she's on my back all the time, but today she was particularly determined to PUSH me. The funny thing is, she looks over in the middle of her pep talk and asks, "Joanne, are you coming to Dunn on Wednesday?" The fool that I am, I look and say, "Sureeeee!!!"

I thank goodness Naima didn't go today. I think today's routine would have scared her. She came over to see me today and said she was concerned she'd have to do sit-ups if she came to bootcamp on Wednesday. She said, "I can't do those." I told her not to worry, she'll get stronger and be able to do them later. Heck, if *I* can do sit-ups now, Naima will be able to do sit-ups in no time at all. I didn't lie, though. I told Naima that not being able to do them really frustrated me, and that I only started doing them recently.

I just didn't tell her that Angel will probably get behind her and push her up, or worse, say "I hope I don't stink too much hahahah" and squat in front of her and pull her up like she did me -- because either way, by hook or by crook, Angel's going to expect those sit-ups at some point... and she won't let Naima say, "I can't." Believe me, I tried.

I'm so excited for Naima, though. I think she'll like Bootcamp too.
