I got old 😦. Simple age related regenerative disks. Being really active apparently doesn't help.....in this one domain. Good posture, and more balanced approach to lifting would probably have helped. That's what I'm trying now.

I got "sandwiched" in a car accident 25 years ago, causing "acute cervical strain" which is what they say bc they don't like to say whiplash. The physical therapist gave me strengthening exercises for my neck. I periodically reinjure it, due to life, and those exercises still help. So does ice. Neck pain suuuucks!

I got my first herniated disk around age 38. I have been greatly relieved of most pain by doing the neck and spine strengthening exercises that I learned in rehab. Many strength exercises are not helpful for herniated or bulging disks. I would seek help from a professional you trust. Also, I ride an upright stationary bike for the disk that went out in my lower back. It only took two months of riding three times a week for at least 30 minutes each session to be free from the pain. I also avoid amusement park rides; it took me six months to bounce back from the neck and back pain I had after going to Disney World and Universal Studios Florida.

Good form with less weights and slower reps has helped me, and achieve better results.
